Friday, Friday

Chinese Lanterns plant themselves in my yard every year. I love them.

I WALKED OUTSIDE AND SMELLED RAIN AND WET GRASS AND WET DIRT AND WET TREES!

This shouty announcement is brought to you by: Wildfire Smoke in Our Air is No Longer at the “Hazardous” Level – and – We Had A Big Ol’ Thunderstorm Gullywasher Last Night! (Thank goodness!)

The forest fires have been hard (we’ve had the worst air quality in the world for almost two weeks), though we’ve been very lucky the fires didn’t get closer than about 25 miles from our place. My heart goes out to all the people who lost homes, jobs, belongings, and so much more to the fires, which are still burning. {{hugs, my friends}} {{hugs, my strangers}}

WRITING – I am proofreading HELL’S SPELLS–it’s gonna be out soooooon-– waiting on copy edits for book #1 of the new urban fantasy series I mentioned last week, and writing book #2 in that series.

So of course I had a short story plot fall into my head almost fully formed. Luckily, it’s the story I need to turn in at the end of the year for a 2021 fairy tale anthology, so I couldn’t be happier. Thank you, Muse!

Crow in the Dogwood tree, waiting for me to toss out some peanuts

LIFE AND STUFF – Other than going absolutely cabin fever buggy over the unrelenting sludge brown wet cigarette butt of a sky, it’s been a pretty good week. Terrible air quality meant staying inside, so I’ve been sewing masks, writing, and watching hockey. (Go, Lightning!–but how about no more dramatic OT’s. You’re killin’ me here.) 😉

And speaking of hockey, Seattle FINALLY chose a name for their NHL team, and it’s the best ever: The Seattle Kraken! Yes, of course I’ve already ordered the T-shirt and the bumper sticker. Krakhead (Kraker? Krakite?) 4Life!

Until next week, stay safe, stay hydrated, and hey–don’t forget to vote.

    Seattle Kraken? Omg, I might have to purchase hockey stuff for the first time ever! Have you ever had Kraken Rum? It’s awesome! Might be a good thing to have while watching the first game. So excited about Hell’s Bells and new series!
