Friday Update

Hi hello! It’s Friday!

We made it to the end of the week! I thought a weekly update might be fun. So…welcome to update week #1!

I hope you are well and healthy and hanging in there. I’m sending you a big (socially-distant appropriate) hug. You got this. I believe in you.

In my little corner of the world, spring is in full swing and everything is blooming. The radishes jumped the garden last year, and are now poking up everywhere in the yard. The giant rosemary we replanted and almost killed is roaring back to life. The ivy and blackberry remain dauntless (I think they’re eyeing the house…scheming for a take over). So: normal.

But today the sun is shining, the wind is cool, and Oregon’s sky is blue, blue, blue.

As for my writing, well, it’s been difficult these last couple months. The whole state of the world hit me pretty hard. I have also been juggling some (really good!) life events (more on those in future Friday updates), and the basement remodel we started in September, Still. Isn’t. Done. (whyyyy?!!!)

I don’t like admitting it’s been hard to do a job I love so much, but, yeah, it’s been hard.

The good news? Writing is back on track! I’m having fun and can’t wait to get to the next projects. I had big plans for this year, darn it! I’m not giving up on them yet! 🙂

HELL’S SPELLS should be drafted by this weekend. That’s not the end of the work (there’s revision, copy edit, a couple proofreading passes and formatting still to do), but I can see the finish line and it’s a glorious sight!

Fingers crossed and the creek don’t rise, I’ll have HELLS SPELLS (the next Ordinary Magic novel) out in May.

Hoo-ray!

So. Let’s see..how about a knitted thing? Behold! The Battle Snail I knit for a giveaway at the Rainforest Writers Retreat (back when gatherings were still a-okay). I think it turned out pretty darn good. 🙂

I’m excited to hear about the possible May release of a new Ordinary. I will wait for it no matter how long. It will be worth it!
I enjoyed your newsletter and I’m glad we can still laugh at a few things.
