Spooky Season

Happy Halloween!

We carved pumpkins and decorated the house in preparation for the little ghosts and ghoulies out wandering the neighborhood tonight.

We also put up some safety measures since we’re currently mid-dig with the basement window well we’re putting in. That means we have a Big-McLarge-Huge hole on the back side of the house. We don’t want to lose any trick-or-treaters down there.

Could we fill that hole with skeletons and other spooky stuff? Sure. But we don’t have any skeletons or spooky stuff, so we’re going with caution tape and lighted pathways to lead the kids to the Doorway of Candy and Treats.

The last couple years, we’ve given out candy and books. I didn’t have time to get books this year, but there are some little toys available along with the candy. No toothbrushes or raisins. Because we are not monsters.

My plan is to stay home and either dig in the giant hole (which is above my head now) or give out candy. Or maybe I’ll do both! Grave digger is a fun, funky Halloween costume, right?

Oh, and if you’re looking for a fun, funky Halloween read, why not grab ROCK CANDY, my Halloween novella set in the Ordinary Magic series? You can find it as a single download, and also in my holiday novella collection ROCK PAPER SCISSORS.

Just An Ordinary Halloween…

Police officer Jean Reed doesn’t normally mind pulling the graveyard shift in Ordinary Oregon, the sleepy little beach town where gods vacation and monsters reside. But October in Ordinary is anything but normal. One mob of cursed gnomes, one haunted harbor festival, and one chilling visit from Death makes this October stranger than most.

But it’s Jean’s boyfriend, Hogan, who really has her flustered. With their six month anniversary ticking down to Halloween, she wonders if their time together is anything more than a casual fling. When she discovers Hogan has been keeping secrets, Jean must decide if their relationship has been nothing but a trick or if it’s been the one treat she’s always wished for.

This novella takes place after GODS AND ENDS, but can be read as a stand-alone.

I love your Age of Steam series. I noticed a new book hasn’t come since Cold Copper. I wondered if that was going to end on that note. Hopefully not. I’m excited to see where it goes. Definitely going to check out Hazard.
