Of Plans and Curiosities

It’s mid-January already, and my plans for the year are still in the “think it out, plan it out” stage. Oh, I know the books I want to write, and am tracking my word count so I can Make More Realistic Goals This Year, Devon (ha!) but there are several other authorly things I’d like to explore.

Just off the top of my head…what about serial fiction? I wonder if my readers, or heck, new readers would follow along as I released chapters of projects I’m working on, or little side roads and excerpts from my writing that haven’t been seen before?

How about offering cool exclusive writerly things on my web page? Do you suppose someone would like an Ordinary, Oregon T-shirt, or a Get Mugged mug? Or maybe a collectible edition of my books?

Over on my YouTube channel, I’ve read a few excperts of my stories, and people seem to enjoy that. Maybe I should read a thing or two more often. Or I wonder if anyone would like a live (probably on-line) knit-along with me?

I know I can’t do all these things at once, but I’m certainly thinking about them.

What do you think? Would you be interested in one or a few of these things? If so, let me know which one or two you’d like to see most! I love hearing your ideas!

Devon, I think those are all good ideas. In picking the ones I’d be most interested in they would be; get mugged coffee mugs, Tee shirts and maybe we of those from Ordinary Oregon ad souvenir it’s too. I also enjoyed when you read selections from your books. Any and all are fun so do what you want and we will follow.

I agree, anything and we will follow but I’d love to read excerpts of your work we haven’t seen before, especially when it comes to ordinary.

I am intrigued by the idea of a serial fiction series. It is definitely something I would enjoy. Waiting for each installment adds to the fun of the read, right? Of course I say that now, not having any experience with stories presented this way, but I’m willing to give it a try.
What I do have tons of experience with is shopping. I would absolutely jump on the opportunity to buy coffee mugs, special editions & perhaps a knited item or two.
I look forward to all of your works, planned or not for 2023.

Aw…thank you!! I, too, enjoy shopping funs stuff. 🙂 I will keep you in the loop as plans go forward!

Hi ehm, well, the serial stories definitely. And the Ordinary t-shirt hell yeah!

I would also want to take this moment and say: please sell the blue sad llama of punishment!!!
    That would be amazeballs!

I released Ghost Town (long paranormal novella) on the blog a chapter/section at a time and readers seemed to really enjoy that. I was surprised, actually. I released a snippet every Sunday so that everyone knew when to return. I would definitely read a novel this way–I know this because I read Ilona Andrews latest novel in the Innkeeper world that way! (That’s where I got the idea to release something each Sunday). I don’t buy many t-shirt or mugs. It’s NOT a bad idea, just not something I do. I actually WEAR a lot of t-shirts, but I tend to order them 10 at a time from various places rather than special ones. Probably because I’m very picky about t-shirts fitting right and being all cotton and not white and…see??? But whatever you do, I’d be happy to let everyone know about it over at my blog so that we can all enjoy your latest, greatest ideas or stories!

I’m all for t-shirts and stuff about Ordinary, OR….though specifically i’m thinking for the Knitting and the Crochet clubs…also more of a fan of novellas or full books then reading stuff a chapter at a time.

I would LOVE an Ordinary Oregon (the vacation spot of the gods!) T shirt in 5XL please, and I would also love to have serial bits of stories to read…I’ve already got so many mugs I suspect that they procreate in my kitchen over night, LOL. But more stories from your talented hands are always welcome!

Personally I am not a fan of the serial fictions. I don’t have the time to sit at my computer to read them. I far prefer reading on my kindle. I also don’t want to miss out on stories so I would request that if you did do a serial like this that when it is finished that you release it as a book/novella for those of us who simply don’t like reading that way.
