Looking Back at 2018

2018 didn’t go exactly as planned, but a lot of fun stuff happened. I started the year with surgery for a broken ankle, saw my first professional hockey game in person, attended two writing retreats, one awesome Powell’s Books signing, a local Write Here, Write Now and took a wild road trip following old Route 66 across most of America.

We also bought an old phone booth to turn into a Little Free Library, and I started restoring vintage furniture to kick off my writing office remodel. Neither the phone booth nor the office are finished, but that’s okay. It’s good to have fun projects in the wings.

As for books, I had some great things fall into place! SCISSOR KISSES, the third novella in the Ordinary Magic series came out, and so did the print compilation of all three Ordinary Magic novellas: ROCK PAPER SCISSORS.

The first three Ordinary Magic books: DEATH AND RELAXATION, DEVILS AND DETAILS, GODS AND ENDS all came out in audio and were narrated by the fabulous Khristine Hvam.

But wait! That’s not all! I also began a new urban fantasy hockey series, West Hell Magic (yep, fantasy + hockey).

Book one: HAZARD and book two: SPARK are both out now in digital. HAZARD is also available in print, and SPARK should be available in print very soon.

I guess when I look back at 2018 it turned out to be a pretty darn good year after all. I hope you had a great year with lots of unexpected bright spots in it too!
