New Series Afoot
Last year I got it in my head that hey, maybe I’d like to try writing a mystery. Something fun, something quirky, something with magic (of course!) But who should be my detective(s) and where should all the murdering happen?
The where was easy—I know this cozy little beach town of Ordinary, Oregon where gods vacation and plenty of supernaturals run amok. It would be the perfect place for a bit of criming.
The who, though, that was harder. Who should unravel clues and unmask criminals?
Well, years ago, I wrote a short story about Medusa living in Seattle. It was (I think) the first urban fantasy I’d written. So what if Dusi (Medusa) in search of a new life, came back to her old Oregon stomping grounds? What if she made friends with a witch who’d lost her way, and a psychic unsure of her power?
What if crimes happened?
Voila! A new series is born! The first book in the Ordinary Oregon Mystery series: GORGON WITH THE WIND is up for preorder and will be out in March. Book 2: FOR WHOM THE SPELL TOLLS will come out shortly after that and book 3: A SEER AND PRESENT DANGER will release this year too.
I’m excited, I’m nervous, but I’m mostly so happy I gave writing cozy magical mysteries a try. I really hope readers like it too, because it was wonderful to be back in Ordinary and to see all our favorite people (and monsters, and gods,) in new, exciting ways.
