We Have a Title!

I can officially announce the title to DEAD IRON’s sequel.  Are you ready?

TIN SWIFT

I actually love this title, but then I (presumably) know what the book is about and why it makes a cool title. 🙂  What do you think?

DEAD IRON

TIN SWIFT

How’s that look for books 1 and 2 of the series?

What else is going on besides a cool new title?  I have had a cover consultation for TIN SWIFT. From what my editor tells me they talked about and asked the artist to do, I am SO freaking excited to see what the artist is going to come up with! Really people, this is going to be awesome cool and I can’t wait to share as soon as I get to see it.

I am also reading over TIN SWIFT’s  back cover copy (the description on the back cover of the book) which isn’t something I write, but which my editor kindly lets me see and comment upon.  (I think they did a great job putting it together…hinting at the story but not giving too much away.)  I am also coming up with ideas for a tag line…that single sentence you sometimes see on the front cover of a book.

Here’s DEAD IRON’s tag line:

America was built on blood, sweat, and gears.

Pretty good, right?  I’m hoping to offer a few suggestions for TIN SWIFT’s tag line and get that off to my editor today.

What else am I up to?

1. Writing TIN SWIFT.  This book is full of action, adventure, gears and grit (and yes, love) and I’m having a blast with it. However, it is writing a little slower than I want (I’m getting in less words daily than I’d like) and that concerns me a little.  One of the things that has slowed me down is research.  I’m keeping a list of the things I’ve researched so far, things like: the discovery of oxygen, and sailing tools that can also be used as weapons.  Maybe some day I’ll post the list for fun.

2. I just received editorial revision notes for MAGIC WITHOUT MERCY, book #8 in the Allie Beckstrom series.  That’s due in a month (TIN SWIFT is due in just over a month).  I’m going to choose which week I take out of writing TIN SWIFT to revise the Allie Beckstrom book.  Usually I like a full month to do revisions, but that’s just not going to happen this time.

3.  Planning my next series.  Book #9 of the Allie Beckstrom books will be written by the end of the year, so I’ll need to start thinking about what book(s) I want to write when that series is done. I have ideas…oh, yes, I do! But I am not sure which new series I’d like to write next (okay, really I want to write them all) so I’m going to be putting together three possible “next” books, and see which one catches my fancy. Then I’ll start talking to editors about which one catches their fancy.  I don’t think I’ll have time to actually start writing the first few chapters of these books until maybe October, but having them stew in the back of my mind now should help for when I actually have a bit of time to devote to them.

And that’s about it. For today, anyway.
