Back Lash, book #1 of the Shame and Terric series is officially available as an ebook! I've had a couple questions since the book came out and thought I'd answer them here. Will there be a print edition? - If Back Lash sells well enough, I plan to write a second, longer Shame and Terric novel and will release both it and Back Lash as ebook and print some time next year. Will there be an audio edition? - At this time: no. If that changes (again, depending on how well the ebook version sells) I'll be sure to let you know! Where is it available? - Currently it's up on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and iTunes. Can I get it free? - Yes! Just request it through your local library. They should be able to get a digital copy in for loaning at no cost to you. And maybe my favorite question: That cover--is Shame stealing Terric's clothes? Yes. Yes he is. 😉 If you have any other questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. You can find me here, or follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr. Or if you'd just like a monthly update with sneak peeks and giveaways, then signing up for my no-spam once-a-month (ish) newsletter is the way to go.
I'm not particularly prone to making new year resolutions. I'm a goal-oriented kind of girl, and usually just set a goal and aim for it. But this year I resolved to try a few new things for my health, for my writing, and yes--for my blog! The first resolution for my blog is I am going to post 2-3 times a week. I'll try to keep it simple: Monday, Wednesday, Friday for sure, and only add in other days if I have something worth saying that can't wait. The next change is I hope to share more excerpts, works in progress, and other pieces of fiction. My planning isn't solid on this yet, but the intention is there, and I resolve to make good on it. I am also going to add a Frequently Asked Questions section to my page. There are a few questions I get in my weekly email: "Why isn't book 8 & 9 of the Allie Beckstrom series out in audio format", "Is Magic for a Price really the last book in the series" and etc., but I have a feeling that there are plenty of other questions that people might want answers to. So please, if you have time, ask me anything that you've been curious to know about the Allie Beckstrom books, the Age of Steam books, the Broken Magic books, my short stories, and yes, even knitting! You'll be helping me create a comprehensive FAQ section. And since I really appreciate the help, I'll randomly choose three people from the comments on Friday, January 11th before midnight PST, and will mail them the signed book of their choice from my Allie Beckstrom series, Age of Steam series, or my short story collection. If any of the three people don't respond in a week's time, I will re-choose a winner in a first-comment, first-win post on Friday January 18 before midnight PST. I will mail international.
Comment on the blog: "Forgive me if you've posted this elsewhere, but why is it the LAST Allie book?" I'm not sure if I've gone into the specifics of why MAGIC FOR A PRICE is the last Allie book. For the record, the decision was mine. Way back when my marvelous editor picked up the first three books in the series, I sat down and thought about what kind of series I wanted to write. I knew the story I wanted to tell--Allie's story--needed about nine books, or three sets of three books, a beginning three, a middle three, and an ending three. I had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen in those books, though I've been surprised more times than I can count by some of the characters and some of the things they did (I'm looking at you, Shame). But all along, I knew that Allie's story, which started with her waking up on her 25th birthday broke and lonely in a city filled with dirty magic and dirtier secrets, would end a certain way. And that's what book 9, MAGIC FOR A PRICE is all about--finishing that story we began with her. I've been looking forward to giving Allie this last book, her "ending" for about five years now and I am thrilled it is almost on the shelves so that I can share it with you all. Will I ever write more books from Allie's point of view with the gang all together? Maybe. I won't rule it out. I love Allie, and I love all these characters who have taken up space in my head and heart over the last several years. They are the first novel people I have shared with anyone, and I can't imagine seeing them drift away forever. But for now, we get to enjoy the end of Allie's journey. We get to see if she, the people she loves, and her world that is still filled with dirty magic and dirtier secrets, makes it through to the end. And by this time next year, I'll be biting my fingernails wondering if readers out there are going to like the spin-off BREAKER series, starring Shame and Terric, because their first book will be coming out...and a new journey will begin. 🙂 P.S. I promised a snippet from Magic For A Price and will post that tomorrow. Sorry for the delay!
