If you read DEATH AND RELAXATION, book #1 of my Ordinary Magic series, you might have noticed that book #2, DEVILS AND DETAILS was supposed to be out in July. You might also notice that it is currently no longer July. It is also almost no longer August. Sigh... Getting book #2 out into the world came with a load of delays, set backs, Life Stuff, and a broken thumb. I have to say that despite all that, I'm really, really excited about this book. Today, on this almost-no-longer-August Monday, I can finally announce that DEVILS AND DETAILS will be available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, (and other e-tailers) Wednesday, August 31! Yes, this Wednesday! The print version will be out Very Soon. Please hang in there just a little longer, my print readers. I'm pulling it together as quickly as I can. So to recap: things are finally on track. We have a book, a release date, a thumb that doesn't really bend correctly any more, and we have a cover! Wow, right? How gorgeous is that? The artist is Lou Harper of Harper Designs and I LOVE her work on this series. And lastly, for the cherry on top, here is an exclusive sneak peek. Thank you again for being so patient with me!
DEATH AND RELAXATION is out today! I am so excited to finally be able to share with you the first book in my newest series! This is the story about a regular small town cop, Delaney Reed, and her not-so-regular small town of Ordinary, Oregon where gods vacation, monsters reside, and even murder can't put a damper on the world-famous Rhubarb Rally. This is small-town urban fantasy and is a little lighter than some of my other books. But of course it comes with a healthy dollop of humor, mystery, and a dash of romance. Here's the back cover: Monsters, gods, and mayhem... Police Chief Delaney Reed can handle the Valkyries, werewolves, gill-men and other paranormal creatures who call the small beach town of Ordinary, Oregon their home. It’s the vacationing gods who keep her up at night. With the famous rhubarb festival right around the corner, small-town tensions, tempers, and godly tantrums are at an all-time high. The last thing Delaney needs is her ex-boyfriend reappearing just when she's finally caught the attention of Ryder Bailey, the one man she should never love. No, scratch that. The actual last thing she needs is a dead body washing ashore, especially since the dead body is a god. Catching a murderer, wrestling a god power, and re-scheduling the apocalypse? Just another day on the job in Ordinary. Falling in love with her childhood friend while trying to keep the secrets of her town secret? That’s gonna take some work. Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iTunes Happy reading!!! Oh, and please share the news, or leave a review if you feel so inclined. Thank you! 🙂
I'm going to let you in on a little secret here. I'm nervous. When I get nervous I tend toward being really quiet and holding very still. But sometimes being nervous can be because of a great thing. It can be because I'm very excited about something. This is one of those exciting times. I'm e-publishing a new Shame and Terric book. BACK LASH is the third book with these two characters at the helm and it comes out on November 12th. If you haven't read the first two books: HELL BENT and STONE COLD--no worries. This book takes place a year after Stone Cold, and I wrote it to stand on its own two feet. This book also marks my first step into ebook-first publishing and that's been a fun new experience. Here is the summary from the back of the cover: Magic isn’t a blessing with drawbacks, it’s a curse with upsides. Shame Flynn and Terric Conley hadn't meant to become the living, breathing vessels for Death and Life magic. But they hadn't meant to die, be reborn, break magic, save the world, and kill a few psychopaths along the way, either. The one thing they had meant to do was to seal magic away so it could never be used to kill again. When a string of dead bodies–people killed by magic–appear throughout Portland, Oregon, Shame and Terric must scramble to uncover who broke the locks on magic and how. Before Terric’s sister becomes the next target. Before the Russian mob locks them in their sights. Before the question of who can control magic is decided by bullets and blood. I'm so excited to share this story with you all. If you are a reviewer, and would like to read and review BACK LASH, please contact me. (email button here on my web page works best). Oh, and stay tuned! On Monday, November 9th, I'll do the official cover reveal.

Book 8: Magic Without Mercy will be released May 13th Book 9: Magic For a Price will be released June 3rd Oh, and my newest series, the House Immortal books, are out in audio format too! News #1:The other day I mentioned that HOUSE IMMORTAL, book #1 of the House Immortal series is on a super-sweet ebook sale of only $1.99. That sale lasts until February 15th--only a few days left now! Amazon Barnes & Noble Books A Million iBookstore Kobo One of the great things about this sale is it was featured on this cool site called BookBub, which I had never checked out before. Here's what it's all about: BookBub is a free daily email that notifies you about deep discounts on acclaimed ebooks. You choose the types you'd like to get notified about — with categories ranging from mysteries to cookbooks — and we send great deals in those genres to your inbox. I signed up for BookBub (it's free!) just last month and I have really enjoyed getting those daily emails. I've discovered some new authors and also favorite authors at great prices. As a reader, I think it's a really neat service.
News #2:In other news, INFINITY BELL, Book #2 of the House Immortal series is going to be out in just a couple weeks! (March 3rd) I'm so excited for readers to finally get their hands on the newest installment of Matilda Case's adventures. I'm also excited that Publisher's Weekly gave INFINITY BELL such a terrific review. Here's what they had to say: Grit and adrenaline drive the action-filled, romance-tinged second novel in Monk’s House Immortal SF/fantasy series (after House Immortal). Matilda Case is one of the 13 immortals called the galvanized. She and her brother, Quentin, are working on ensuring that Abraham Seventh, a fellow galvanized, regains his health—even as they’re all on the run from the various Houses, thanks to complex and dastardly political machinations with long-reaching effects. While attempting to remain free, Matilda and her family (both by blood and by choice) must race against time to prevent genocide on a global scale. Continuous action makes for a roller-coaster effect, as the myriad twists and turns of politics and time-travel slam together. Each sentence is crafted for maximum impact, with exquisite storytelling and relatable, emotional characters. There are more than enough loose ends to ensure continued readership for future installments.
Whew! That's a heck of a nice review! I sure hope readers enjoy the book when they get their hands on it.
I'm going to do a cover reveal tomorrow, and I hope you'll stop by to check it out.
Until then, happy reading!
