Catching up a bit

I’ve been a little blog silent the last week or so.  The reason for the silence is that I had a deadline for a first book in a series and a release date for another first book in another series land in the same week.

In case you’ve never experienced this yourself, both events call up a collision of emotions, expectations, worries and tasks that must be dealt with Right. Now.  Both events at the same time create a sort of chaos that steals time, devours sleep, and blowtorches the crap out of your candles at both ends no matter how fast you put out the fires.

Some people probably come out of this experience invigorated and excited, I came out of it tired. 🙂

Anyway, right after the release day and deadline day was local science fiction convention Orycon.  Even tired, I had a great time!  I sat in on some panels, and moderated a few too.  I ran into friends I hadn’t seen in years, met some new people, and generally kicked back and enjoyed myself.

Mind you, there were costumes and artwork and goods and writers and artists and fun everywhere, and the only picture I took of anything was this lovely typo:

donut power 1

How delightful is that? I’ll have a donut that gives me the power to defeat deadlines with a single blow, please!

Tomorrow, I’ll cover more on the panels at Orycon, and the big author signing at Powell’s Books.
