Winners and Exercise update

REMINDER: to winners of the UK MAGIC IN THE BLOOD giveaway.

PLEASE check and see if you won a copy.  I haven’t received an email from all six winners yet.  If I don’t receive an email from winners by next week, I’ll choose new winners.

Exercise:

At the suggestion of a friend (and because I’d heard it mentioned several times in a positive light) I decided to try the Couch to 5K program. I’ve always liked the idea of running, but all of my attempts to do it and stay with it have failed.  So far (only 2 weeks into it) I am finding it pretty darn easy to get on the treadmill for a measly three times a week and do my half hour sessions.

I even find myself wanting to do it on my days off!

One of the things that has made this easier for me is the format of the program, which is a nice slow introduction to jogging.  Also, I found some free music I downloaded  from Podrunner that is intended to be used with Couch to 5K.   There’s a little chime in the music that tells you when to  speed up and when to slow down, taking all the guess work out of it.

Easy-peasy.

I probably won’t do updates on my blog about my exercise goals, but just wanted to say “thank you” to the people who told me that yes, they liked the program when they tried it, and encouraged me to give it a shot.

Oh, and before I forget, I absolutely loved this terrific video presentation by Dr. Mike Evens.  Really, one of the best (and entertaining) perspectives on what we can do for our health. It  helped me see that even a measly half hour can do a whole lot of good.

23 1/2 hours: What is the single best thing we can do for our health?

Good job! Keep up the exercising and enjoy the endorphins! I started doing aerobics in the evenings 3 – 4 weeks ago, and am enjoying it more than I thought I would. The kids even join me, and we make it a family event. I forbid my husband to watch…

But that isn’t the reason I stopped by today. Finally read your Dead Iron. No spoilers, but wanted to tell you that you made me cry! (in a good way) Powerful writing.

Thanks for the great reads! So enjoy your writing. 🙂
